Modern Technology in Action

As of today, I am officially a grandmother! My first grandchild, Theo was born last night (or this morning, depending on where you are in the world).

It’s only just now sinking in, after months of concern (due to a problem with the pregnancy) that he would be born prematurely, worrying about my daughter, worrying about how small the baby would be if he was born very early, he’s here. He’s fine, only a month early and doesn’t need to be in an incubator, and my daughter is well too!

Geographically, I am on one side of the world, and they are on the other, about as physically far apart as it is possible to be. But, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, I have a photo already.

I am pondering a puzzle, though. On my side of the world, he was born on June 2nd; on his side of the world he was born on June 1st: what date will his birthday be?

  2. Hi Tara,
Thanks for your kind thoughts. Theo and my daughter have been staying with me since August 2008 and consequently, my online activities have been severely curtailed. he is the most alluring and time consuming distraction!

  4. Hi Breezie,
Thanks for your comments. He’s a big bouncing boy now – you’d never guess he had a shakey start in life.
He sure is a major distraction, though!
    Cheers
    Sue
